Services We Offer
Chiropractic Adjustment: Traditionally supplied by hand, the intention of a chiropractic adjustment is to correct the alignment, motion and/or function of a vertebral joint. Put another way, if a person has a joint in their neck or back that isn’t moving properly, a chiropractor uses his/her hands to correct it. The bigger picture: The bones of our neck and back, (our spine), house our spinal cord. Branching off of the spinal cord are nerves that go to every part of our body. A misaligned spinal joint can produce stress, pressure or irritation to those nerves with the potential to cause pain or other symptoms. A chiropractic adjustment corrects the misaligned or “stuck” joint allowing it and the associated tissues, to heal more efficiently relieving the pressure on the nervous system which can lead to an improvement of symptoms.
Kinesiology Taping Therapy: An elastic therapeutic tape made of cotton with an acrylic adhesive used with the intent of treating pain and dysfunction caused by over-use injuries, athletic injuries or traumatic injuries such as whiplash. When applied, the stretchy quality of the tape produces a “recoil” effect that allows it to support joint movement, manage pain, and increases blood flow and reduces swelling and bruising.
Manual Soft Tissue Therapy: Most people have heard of muscles, ligaments and tendons. There is another connective tissue that is thin, tough and elastic called fascia. Fascia wraps most structures within the human body including muscle. When injured, this fascia can become distorted causing restriction of muscle movement and pain. A practitioner aims to correct the “knots” or adhesions in the fascia by using his/her hands to apply slow steady pressure to the affected area until a therapeutic “release” is achieved.
Therapeutic Ultrasound: A very safe, fast and gentle method of treating soft tissue conditions such as sprains/strains, spasms, and inflammation. Ultrasound is applied with a wand transducer and gel in direct contact with the patient’s skin and uses very high frequency sound waves to stimulate the tissues beneath the surface of the skin. Benefits include speeding up the healing process with increased blood flow and improved pain levels with the reduction of swelling and edema.
